Family Photo Time

My friend Clint and his family needed some nice family photos for the holidays. I helped them out and was glad to use my new Cowboy Studio 24″ Softbox. It worked surprisingly well, especially at counter balancing the late day sunlight. I was even more surprised that it worked because my flash was not properly syncing with my shutter because the shutter speeds were way too high. I guess I’ll be shooting at ISO 100 next time?

So you just used the 1 softbox and a speedlight to fill in against the sunlight backlight/sidelighting the family? Wow, that worked really well, I’m impressed!

Thanks for the comment Travis. Yeah I only used 1 speedlight in the softbox at a 45 degree angle to the family. I was shocked at how well it turned out. It’s a small softbox too! I can’t wait to try some more outdoor portraits with it or combine it with another light.

These are great! There is something to be said about “capturing expression” on photographs of people and you’ve done it here quite well.
